kissinuk
We have an Eglu with 2 gingernuts that we've had for about a year now. Recently one of them has decided to crow very very loudly while the other one is in the eglu laying. I'm really concerned that the neighbours are going to complain, does anyone have any tips? I've tried getting the hose out - her response was to move into the eglu where it's dry and crow there instead! I really don't want to have to get rid of them but I can see it going that way if she doesn't shut up and the neighbours start complaining! Hen Watch
I had similar few months ago. I put a ceramic oven dish with bedding on the roosting bars (an oblong one that will fit through the eglu door) and used it as a second nest box. I was getting noise when one was laying and another wanted to lay too. I've only found an egg in it three times. But it does seem to help as 2nd hen can sit comfy whilst hen 1 lays in the nestbox, then hen 2 moves into nestbox when it is vacated. I'm not 100% sure that this was the answer to my noise problem but it has helped. However it is a real pain to put the dish in and out of the eglu every day, and store it in a bin bag at night to stop it getting wet.
