Mumpty
I've had the girls nearly 3 weeks now and they all seem fine. They have been vacinated, but do I need to worm them regularly like dogs, cats etc or only worm if there is a problem? I bought some Verm-X as a precaution but now read a lot about flubenvet? what should I do? What do you all do?
Hen Watch
I got mine April 2007 from Omlet and never wormed them as had never seen any. Then this January 08, I had a big reduction in eggs. Still never saw worms but decided to use some Flubenvet on here as it seemed to be the wormer most people used. Bought some, wormed the chooks, and found dead worms in their poo that I had never seen before So now I personally favour worming them every 4 months with Flubenvet routinely. (You can buy it online).
Daphne
You'll find lots of people with the same experience (me included). No worms; used to use Verm-X as precaution. One day - worms (badly in my case). Straight onto Flubenvet. Now - no worms. As Egluntine (I think) said 'cut out the middle man' and use flubenvet regularly instead. Mumpty
Thanks for the advice. Do you use Flubenvet monthly, twice yearly, or what? Can you still eat the eggs (mind you none here yet)?
Hen Watch
Thanks for the advice. Do you use Flubenvet monthly, twice yearly, or what? Can you still eat the eggs (mind you none here yet)? I use Flubenvet every 4 months regardless. No egg withdrawal at all assuming you use a normal dose. If you double dose because of gape worm then you would withdraw eggs. But with normal usage there is no need.
Egluntyne
I use Flubenvet every 4 months regardless. Ditto. As mine free range I feel that it is a sensible precaution.
