helenmb
Does anyone know of a breeder who has any Wyandottes ready (not bantums) in the Cambridgeshire, South Lincolnshire area (or even South Leicestershire or West Norfolk) I live near Peterborough. We would like to increase our little flock but can't seem to find anyone near by with any that are not chicks. Have tried Beach Fen Rare Breeds but they only have chicks. Any suggestions anyone? Or even any places that have some other non-hybrids that would be good layers in my area. Thanks
Tweety
I don't know any breeders in your area, but I got my blue laced Wyandottes from the Wernlas Collection in Shropshire. They will deliver hens, so it may be worth giving them a call to find out if they have any available. I had to order mine and wait a few weeks for them. jomaxsmith
Have you tried Thornes, Letchworth? Would be worth ringing them to find out Jo
Janty
Have you looked at The Hen House in Diss? We got our RIR minis from him and they are lovely birds. I also know people who have had other breeds from him including wyandottes. http://www.hen-house.co.uk/ Good luck. It might be a bit out of your way but you could also combine a visit with an excuse to meet up with some of us. Jan
Patricia7455
I have had a look around Thorne's in Letchworth, mainly looking at the hybrids but they did have a lot of different breeds as well. Thought I saw a Wyandotte but it was a small one, if so. May have been a miniature. I would not be surprised if they had full sized ones there too. All the hen houses look very clean and well kept there. I am going to start a new thread asking if any people on the forum have bought their hybrids from Thorne's and how they have got on with them. I also fancy getting a couple of Welsummers, or something else a bit different, pretty and also laying a reasonable number of eggs.
jomaxsmith
Patricia, There's a Thornes fan club on here - they are brilliant. My girls are from there and I get my feed from there too. The staff are excellent and very knowledgeable. They have a very quick turnover of hybrids (which I believe they source from Glencroft in Yorkshire) and they breed all their purebreeds onsite. helenmb
Thanks to everyone who replied and for the tip offs. Will look into these. Have also found someone with some Cream Legbars and Speckled Sussex available quite close so may go for these instead (for now as would like at least one Wyandotte!). Has anyone had a hen house from there? Patricia
Tweety
helenmb, We obviously have similar tastes in chickens - I have a Cream Legbar and a Speckled Sussex, and they are both gorgeous. You won't be disappointed if you get one of each to keep you going until you find a Wyandotte!
helenmb
Hi Tweety Good to know that these would be a good combination Have you got any photos of your girls in the Gallery as I'd love to see what yours look like. Are your two good layers? I thought it would be good to have the odd too so hope that the Legbar would provide this.

He was making one in shades of pink and although it is not really my thing, the colours were stunning.
