little jerry
Hi, This is my first post , so hope Im doing this right Have had my two chooks now for 6 weeks, one is 18wks old other is 24wks old. Both are fantastic and whole family are loving them, including the cat and dog. We have no eggs yet. Is this OK? They get to run around the garden about half the time and seem very happy. Occasionally one has yellowy poo. Is this OK?
Egluntyne
Hello Jerry, welcome to the forum. The 24 week girl should start soonish. This time of year, the shortening days can have a bit of an impact though. You will know when they are ready to lay as they will eat and drink loads more than usual, their faces will redden and the combs and wattles redden and increase in size, and the hens will crouch when you approach. Shouldn't be long now.

WitchHazel
. Occasionally one has yellowy poo. Is this OK? Hi Jerry, welcome to the forum! The yellowy poo (looks like a chip shop curry) is perfetly normal. It's from where they are clearing out a different part of their insides, and will happen every so many poos.
