Scooby
Introductions have gone so well with our 20 week old 'babies' Trinny and Suzannah, much better than expected and now they are very happily living in the big run with our established flock. What I would like to know is which one of the older girls has taught them to sprint, feathers flying, legs going like the clappers, to the run door whenever I appear at the kitchen window Teaching them bad habits already. Tut! Hens appear to have brilliant eyesight! Edited October 23, 2008 by Guest
abwsco
LOL's Glad your intro's have gone well I let mine out of their sectioned off bit of the garden the other day and it was hilarious. I had eight chickens running down the garden onto the patio where they immediately all turned right to charge through the open gate onto the drive. The thing is they couldn't see that the gate was open until they turned right so they must have heard that I hadn't shut it!
helenmb
They are obviously quick learners! Great news that they get on so well - congratulations
Gamebird
So glad your introduction has gone well. Chickens are brighter than we think and learn quite quickly what they think is good for them.
jomaxsmith
Chickens are brighter than we think Mine are not bright at all. I laughed my socks off the other day when I fed the girls some treats on the patio. Lily was inside the run and paced frantically along the wire, not remembering that if she turned to her left there was an open gate and she could get out and come share the treats! Jo LOL, yep - that's my girls too! Considering they are quick to learn, sometimes I wonder about them. Every single night when I go to close the cube door I check for hens trying to sneakily sleep in the nesting box. Every single night I turf out Rizzo, Marty and Jan. You'd think they'd stop bothering
