Patridge bantam chicken poorly foot?

Hi, well our new cube arrived yesterday and other half was out in the dark with his head torch on putting it together in the evening.

 

However, just wondered if this was right/normal... the grey back piece, above the poop shoot trays lifts up and down about 1.5 inches when in place... and when sat "at rest' leaves about an inch gap between the top of it and the roof... I think rain could get in, and it would certainly be drafty, but do not know if this is how its supposed to be or not?

Hi I just popped out to have a look at our door, we've got a half inch gap and the door can lift up and down a bit. I think there is meant to be a gap for ventilation but yours doe sound a bit big to me.

Perhaps give Omlet a ring and see if there's anything they can do? Hope it gets sorted for you, it's upsetting after waiting for so long that it's not perfect.

That doesn't sound right to me. Mine jiggles a little, but there is no clear gap between the top and the roof

Thanks... I have emailed Omlet, will see what they say. It poured down with rain last night so will see just how much of it is inside the cube this morning!

It might be worth checking all the joining points - there's quite a bit of tolerance built into the constrcution and you can tighten it up a fair bit.

 

The Boy does relief driving for Omlet and is building eglus and cubes all the time - he recommends tightening it up a bit.

Just had a call from Omlet.. they think it sounds normal (and must admit it hasn't appeared to have let any rain in)... they asked that I send them a photo so they can see, which I have just done.

 

Will let you know what they say (and I will send OH out again with his screwdriver in the meantime!)

I've just noticed that you're not far from me Jo - feel free to get in touch if you want to pop down and see my cube.

 

There are some ventilation gaps, but nothing wide enough for me to worry unduly.
