How did I collect so much junk?

Recommended Posts

I have a habit of bagging things up (like craft supplies, or clothes) to get them out of the way temporarily, and then forgetting about them for years.

OK, confession time ... my worst problem is paperwork. I hate filing, and it takes me ages to get round to it. More than once, I've had visitors coming, been in a rush to tidy up, so I've just flung a pile of papers into a carrier-bag, thinking 'I'll sort them out after the weekend'. It's such a tempting solution!

You can guess what happens ... Visa PIN numbers, bills that need paying, vouchers that are about to go out of date, important letters, phone numbers, tax returns - you name it, I've managed to lose it this way!

Trouble is he is 17!!!!!!

Oooh, if he's that old leave him to it! My two girls are 16 and nearly 18. I refuse to tidy their room. I also stopped doing their ironing years ago as I was fed up of finding it just thrown on the floor and I also refuse to do their washing every now and again as I was getting clean washing back to wash again.

As long as I can shut their bedroom door to keep the mess hidden I'll put up with it.

My teenage girls know that if their rooms are really nasty, they won't get their pocket money each weekend, nor (& this is the big one) will any boyfriends be allowed to visit.

It works like a charm 8)

That said I do still go into their rooms & just wilt at the sight of them sometimes

Both my parents sadly died last May and I have been clearing their house since that time. They had kept credit card receipts, bank statements, guarantees, greeting cards etc from as far back as the mid 1960s.

I have had to check through a ton of paper and shred it for security. I can hear the paper shredder in my sleep now.

The funniest but wierdest thing I have found filed away with all this stuff was in an envelope, and clearly labelled......a huge toe nail :!::!:
