emmat
Hello all I got a lovely new cube about 6 weeks ago. My big girl, Hilda, is determind to sleep in the nesting box, and as such it's full of droppings every morning... It's driving me mad! I tried putting a tray over the entrance to stop her getting in but the pushes it over. Has anyone got any ideas? Emma x
Christian
Put a couple of footballs in the nest box and then she can't sleep in there A small tub trug pushed through the hole also works.

alih
I have the same problem since I got my cube on Friday - in the eglu I put a flower pot in there which worked wonders...will try the footballs I think as I don't like the pooey eggs
emmat
Hmmm - thanks for replies! Surely they'd just nudge a couple of footballs out of the way then cuddle up to them? A trug may work. I put a tray in but they just push it over. Maybe I need a box that they can't push. A cardboard one would do... I'll get routing around to see what I see! xx
Steve.
I got some bamboo, a large lid from a box, and garden twice. Cut the bamboo to make a 'X' inside the nest box. Put a couple of holes in the lid, and used the twine to secure the lid on the roosting-bar side of the nest box.
Sandychick
A football worked for mine. I only had to do this for 4 nights when I first got them and no poo in there since.
helenmb
I have a cheap round (unused) hanging basket to hand in case I need to discourage them from sleeping there as this lets through the air flow too. You just have to make sure it is wide enough to push through from the nest box side. I bought it in one of the Poundland type shops. (have removed the chains though!). The advantage of this too is that you can see through it into the Cube
emmat
Thanks again everyone! I found an old wooden box our bunny used to love chewing the side of. It fits well and sits on the bottom the nesting box so they can't push it over. I'll try it tonight. I've just cleaned them all out so if there is any mess in thete tomorrow I will spank them all! Not really... if that was my attitude their back sides would be red raw after the way they've ruined my garden! Bless!
lindyloodles
my two poo and sleep in the nest box too. My main problem is that if I tried the flowerpot or football trick, they would have to lay on the roosting bars or in the run as mummy is not an early riser and they tend to have laid before 8am. It would probably still work if you moved the football / flowerpot late in the evening when they are fast asleep. They probably wouldn't make the effort to move into the nest box if thay are already snuggled down for the night
