I work with a woman who is on the fund raising committee for little Ella Grace who is now in America and will be having her operation tomorrow.

She flew out with her family the other day and they were really pleased to be upgraded by the airline and the captain made an announcement about their special little passenger. But then the biggest thrill was that Jamie Oliver was on the flight and he came and sat with them for a while and had photos taken with them etc. They were so excited as they are all great fans of his and with everything they are going through at the moment anything that can boost their spirits and give them some distraction is wonderful.

Well done Jamie for taking the time to give his support and all prayers and positive thoughts for tomorrow please.

it's horrible when children are ill, it's horrible when anyone is ill but especially someone so little with something so serious. Poor little poppet will have no idea what's going on or why she's hurting

She'll be in my thoughts and I hope she'll be okay.

I remember a baby in the news a while ago, her name was Zoe and she was born with heart problems and had 6 cardiac arrests. She had a heart transplant and lived for another 12 months before she passed away

It breaks my heart to see little ones suffering.

She has had one operation and that was a success but she was due to have two while in America but the doctors have said they don't want to do the second one until she is a bit bigger. Something to do with her arteries being too small and delicate. It is such a lot for a little body to cope with isn't it.

She had one operation about 4 months ago by the only doctor in Europe who could perform this procedure - she had to go to France for that one. But the doctor dropped dead from a heart attack or something similar the day after he had done her op. If she hadn't had that op she wouldn't have survived until now so all family and friends were so grateful / amazed / devasted etc. ie, every emotion you can think of.

Thanks for asking. I'm sure that positive thoughts help in cases like this. I'll see my friend at work again next week and find out more about how she is doing and let you know
