Help needed to identify childrens book "tangerine twirly....

Recommended Posts

Hello I'd like to ask if anyone can help and identify this childrens book, we had it 10 years ago, for our eldest, and would like it for our youngest...(only because the eldest loved it so much, years ago, and even husband would read it to her..

Anyway we'd love to have it for youngest baby...

Its about a little girl and rhyming, tells of her trials with her red hair.

A regular refrain is Tangerine Twirly, Butterskotch Swirly Orange Hair...I think...

If you ever read it, I'm hoping you'll remember it too..

I cant remember one other thing about it, except it was a touchy feely book I think, and I think you could touch her hair in stages of tangle...

(she may have started off, hating her hair, but loved it in the end...) My girls have all had long hair, so tangled hair strikes a note !!

I'd love some help tracking it down if anyone could help..

Wouldnt it be great if the author had chickens...

thanks for any help......

Cordelia.....

I think it must be

Molly's Hair by Emma Damon

In Molly's Hair by Emma Damon (Tango, pounds 8.99), Molly hates her hair. It frizzes, whirls, curls and is orange. Smooth-haired Arthur and blonde- bobbed Doris chase her around the playground and call her "carrot". She plaits it, combs it and wears big hats, but nothing works. Until her teacher decides that in this year's school play, Molly won't have to be the maggoty old apple tree, again. She will be the angel. On the night, Molly's "butterscotch swirly, tangerine twirly, special, different, orange hair" lights up the sky. Gentle cartoon-like illustrations and touch-and-feel hair make this an uplifting tale - and not just for red-heads.

I can empathise, being on the auburn end of the ginger hair spectrum. :?
