quickcluck
The smell is HIDEOUS!!!!!! There's no disguising it But the spray just leaves them an odd shade of brownie/orange! Not sticky or looking like you've covered them in tar. Hope that helps...
sandyhas3chucks
oh thank you ....I could cry with relief. I must say am morbidly curious, just abot the smell. Is it worse or as bad as those vile fly traps????
quickcluck
We were heaving! Cilit bang didn't get it off my hands so use gloves, and my dog still smells of it, and he tried his normal trick on sniffing a chicken bottie and got the fright of his life
pistachio
I'm awaiting my Ukadex (got 500ml on ebay for £10) and I've heard some people say they gag when they open it and others say it's just wierd and one person say they quite like it. I'm concerned I won't be able to cuddle them aftre they've been sprayed. how often are you supposed to re-apply it?
Lydia
So far we've only had to use it twice - on 2 different hens at 2 different times. In other words once was enough. As soon as the others got a couple of tastes that was it, they got the message. It does smell vile. Wear old clothes, rubber gloves or gardening gloves that you can wash or intend to throw away. Be prepared to wash your clothes twice and shower afterwards as it will mostly likely be in your hair. DO NOT, as I did the first time, spray the stuff before you go to work because you will get very funny looks all day, be given an extremely wide berth and your colleagues will think you are strange You will most likely not wish to go near your chickens afterwards and they will smell odd for a while, about a week or so. Janty
I have only used mine once and that was enough. Next door's children were round and nearly gagged. The youngest decided to come and help me out of the blue just as I sprayed. I re-directed the spray quickly but not quick enough...I stunk, she stunk, the eglu stunk and the chicken stunk. It was not pleasant.
urbanchick
It's nothing like the runny form of stockholm tar. I still have a stain on my lovely purple cube where I dripped some of the stuff on it about a year ago!
chelsea
try and perservere with Ukadex, it does work. We've had a lot of problems with 1 persistent pecker and tried everything. We've been using Ukadex for a couple of months now (and still use it as a deterrent on Ella's bum) and the pecking has stopped and her feathers are growing back. after a while I dont think the smell is so bad!....I think you get used to it. Wear old clothes and gloves when applying in a well ventilated area.
sandyhas3chucks
well I am so impressed I only ordered it yesterday from Merry wotsits on ebay & it arrived today! £12.50 approx all in! I've been down the garden sprayed a patch of fence, then a s"Ooops, word censored!" of material, and am quite surprised that it's not that bad!
