Was just wondering where i could purchase some chickens in the early spring around the maidstone area? Do you have to place orders early on? Also sorry for all the questions but at what age would you reccomend that i start off at? chicks or at the point of laying an egg? As you can tell i am new to this but i want to do it right. I have been reading up on the breeds to keep and think that we would like sussex and rhode island red. Would these be ok for a begginer? also could they live together ok?

I know these both sell hybrids..... I am very new to chook keeping, but think that generally these are easier to keep, less broody and produce more eggs...

i think it is better to have pol as a beginner, the 2 breeds you fancy sound good for starters they will live together, but beware you will not stop once started, this time next year you will be talking about introducing more be warned, it is a terrible disease

I'm getting on well with my Black Rocks. I got mine from Chris Much in South Wales, he was a really nice bloke and said I could phone him anytime for advice.
