Hi,

We were wondering if anybody could shine a light on whats wrong with out silkies? In one coop at the minute we have 3 silkies and one frizzle and for some strange reason to us the three silkies have very brown very runny poo, but the frizzly hasn`t. This has been going on for couple of days now. I said it was because we had to change brand of food last week as our local shop is closed for re-furb but the OH thinks different. Also they aren`t eating as much and not enjoying there treats aswell!

Any help would be great.

Hi, I've just had a similar problem. We have two chickens, and one was fine, and one had some very runny poo's. All white and horrible, and went on for several weeks, and was getting quite worried.

I tried Bran, and Garlic, and zero treats (I was not popular at one point!) but nothing seemed to work. This weekend I changed their food from omlet pellets, to another brand of mash. They fell on the mash as soon as I put a bit out for them, it was as though they had not eaten for weeks (as chickens do) and the poo changed immediately to being normal again.

So I would say it could be related to their food, if you have just changed it??

Egluntine, I followed your advise about bokashi bran mixed with a dollop of probiotic yoghurt that I read in another post recently. Our Fifi had been out of salts for a while and was producing very runny poo, to the point where fluid was dripping from her back end on some days. She's now been on a small morning helping of the bran and probiotic yoghurt mix for six days and is almost back to her normal self. I cleaned the coup out earlier this afternoon and lots of 'normal' poo was awaiting my attention. Never did I think I would be so pleased to see piles of poo :P.
