gracefruit
These are so easy, it's criminal! I got the recipe from a soap forum I frequent, and have converted it to metric/UK pack sizes to make it easier. 160g sleeve of Oreo cookies 100g full fat cream cheese, softened to room temperature 150g cooking chocolate, broken into pieces 1T butter Put the Oreos in a food processor and whirl until they're powdered and then mix them with the cream cheese. Put the mixture in the fridge for about two hours to chill. Once cold, remove the mixture and roll it into small balls and place them on greaseproof paper. Once you've made the balls, chill them again for about 20 minutes. Melt the cooking chocolate and add the butter to it to help keep it smooth. Then roll the Oreo/cream cheese balls in the melted chocolate and place on clean greaseproof paper to cool. I made them this evening and they are delicious. A drop or two of raspberry jam added to the Oreo/cream cheese mixture would make a lovely variation. Enjoy! ETA: I got about 25 truffles from this recipe. mostin
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO What are you trying to do to me on this forum, I'm only just recovering from a bad snickerdoodle addiction and now you post a recipe using my all time favourite biscuits . Well I'll just have to make them, just to know how evil they are, so that I can stay away in future .
Egluntyne
A moment on th lips...a lifetime on the hips. They sound delicious. I love Oreo biscuits so I'm guessing I might like these.

Well I'll just have to make them, just to know how evil they are, so that I can stay away in future . I'm sure you could use low fat cream cheese, that might help a bit.......... This sounds like a great recipe for pre christmas treats in work. My friend loves Oreos, and cheesecake for that matter! and so do I
gracefruit
I really don't get much of an Oreo flavour from them -- they really taste like chocolate cheesecake. And in case you didn't know, sweets eaten in the dark have no calories!
Mrs Frugal
I didn't know that. I'm off to stash some sweets under the bed . The recipe sounds yummy. I love oreo cookies so it's a good excuse to get some
gracefruit
Yes, it's true. Broken biscuits and crisps are also safe. Hee! I hope you like the truffles. My family went wild for them.
Mrs Frugal
I always count half the calories for broken biscuits etc but now I know they're free in the dark, the underside of my bed is rapidly turning into a larder . My family love truffles full stop so these are guaranteed to please them

mostin
Has any body tried these yet? I am going to a birthday party on Sunday so I thought I might try some to take along. Does it have to be cooking chocolate, as I never really like that. Do you think it will work as well with normal chocolate? and than have other people use milk or plain? Oh, and is the 1 T of butter a teaspoon or a tablespoon?
gracefruit
I've made them twice and both times they've disappeared quickly. Last night, I made them with melted chocolate chips and they turned out just fine. I also left out the butter and think they were actually nicer without it. redhotchick
I made these last night! How easy that was! I didn't have time to chill them. I was waiting for the washing to do (a 24 minute cycle) before going to bed. I must have made them bigger than Savonista because I only got 17. I weighed each lump of mix to make sure they where an even size. 15g each. Instead of melting chocolate I smashed up 2 flakes and put the crushed up chocolate in a flat tupperware. I added the balls as I went along and then put the lid on and shook gently. They looked lovely! Then I chilled the whole lot overnight. If you were fully coating them in chocolate they could be smaller, as they are already pretty rich! They are delicious. I'm going to try them again with variations. Either rum soaked raisins and a splash of rum or orange soaked raisins and some zest in the mix. A slosh of cherry brandy maybe? I'm sure there are endless variations.....I hope there are white chocolate flakes in the shops this Christmas! *edited for typo
Olly
Oh, wow. These are fantastic! I made a 'test' batch last night and took them round to a friend's .... I wasn't feeling great and couldn't face eating them, but they were scoffed up with cries of delight and requests for the recipe. I told everyone they are REALLY, really complicated and not to be attempted unless they're very experienced cooks I think the next batch will have some Baileys in. Also I like the idea of rolling them in chocolate flakes. The chocolate coating looked rather scruffy, but I was in a hurry to get them done before going out. mostin
I made a double batch of these and took them to a birthday party on Sunday afternoon. I didn't do the melted chocolate bit, but rolled them in broken up cadburys flake instead. The part was for a 4 year old, I'm to say that not many of the truffles made it out of the kitchen with the parents and in to where the children were. It was decided they were much to rich for them . gracefruit
Yay! I'm so glad you've all had good results. I was a bit nervous sharing. I'm always paranoid I have weird likes and everyone will think I'm nuts for saying something tastes nice.
