> HUGE VIRUS COMING !!!

> PLEASE READ & FORWARD !!! http://www.snopes.com/computer/virus/postcard.asp

>

> Hi all, I checked with Norton Anti-Virus, and they are gearing up for this

virus!

> I checked Snopes (URL above:) and it is for real!

> Get this email message sent around to your contacts ASAP.

>

> PLEASE FORWARD THIS WARNING AMONG FRIENDS, FAMILY AND CONTACTS!

>

> You should be alert during the next few days. Do not open any message with an

attachment entitled 'POSTCARD FROM HALLMARK', regardless of who sent it to you.

It is a virus which opens A POSTCARD IMAGE, which 'burns' the whole hard disc C

of your computer.

>

>

> This virus will be received from someone who has your e-mail address in

his/her contact list. This is the reason why you need to send this e-mail to

all your contacts. It is better to receive this message 25 times than to receive

the virus and open it.

>

> If you receive an email called 'POSTCARD,' even though sent to you by a

friend, do not open it!

> Shut down your computer immediately.

>

>

> This is the worst virus announced by CNN. It has been classified by Microsoft

as the most destructive vir us ever. This virus was discovered by McAfee

yesterday, and there is no repair yet for this kind of virus. This virus simply

destroys the Zero Sector of the Hard Disc where the vital information is kept.

>

> COPY THIS E-MAIL AND SEND IT TO YOUR FRIENDS AND FAMILY. REMEMBER: IF YOU SEND

IT TO THEM, YOU WILL BENEFIT ALL OF US.

According to Snopes, although the virus is real, it is not a "HUGE VIRUS COMING" and it does not "burn the whole hard disc C of your computer" and it is not "the worst virus announced by CNN"

Nonetheless, it is as well to be aware that there may be a virus in any e-mail suggesting you have a postcard or e-card.

Yes - thanks - but it is another hoax.

Always take sensible precautions.

Warnings that says things like "Forward to everyone you know" are almost ALWAYS fake.

Warnings are not circulated like this as it simply causes more internet traffic, slowing it down for all.

I was just about to send it to everyone I knew and then thought, hang on, if they all send it back to me when they bulk mail everyone it will be a nightmare! So I haven't sent it, in the belief that they're all pretty internet savvy and wouldn't open a link like that anyway.

Thought I'd do a quick google for "Hallmark Virus" and most of the links say it's a hoax.

Apparently

Some versions of this hoax claim the information was "verified" on

Snopes.com. This is NOT true. What has been verified on Snopes.com is a

different e-card virus threat with a similar name.

Gosh there sure are ALOT of virus hoax alerts out there...Sorry to set off the alarm. The warnings are almost as annoying as getting a "real" virus. As a matter of course I NEVER open any email which I don't recognize. This one was sent from a friend (who like myself) doesn't generally overreact to swuch warnings. Live and learn.

Hi

Yes - thats the point. Some people get fun out of this sort of thing ! (why don't they just get some chickens instead!)

H

they clearly do not have the intelligence to realise that keeping chickens is much more rewarding and entertaining than spamming :D
