Redwing
I have just tried this broth recipe from one of this months home magazines: Hearty Ham and Cabbage BrothServes 4. Ready in 25 mins 2 onions finely chopped 1 carrot finely chopped 2 potatoes peeled and cut in to small chunks 50g Ham shredded 1.2ltr Veg stock 50g small pasta shapes or broken spagetti 1/2 a cabbage, shredded Heat some oil in a pan and add onions and carrot fry for 5 mins or until softened. Add ham, potato and stock bring to boil simmer for 10 mins tip in the pasta and cook for further 8-10 mins pasta should be tender and potato starting to break down and thicken the soup add cabbage and stir in, cook for further few mins add black pepper to taste I give this recipe thumbs up, it was delicious, I threw it all in the slow cooker for a couple of hours instead of using the hob We had it with warm bread from the breadmaker torn up in to wedges mmmmmm! Orange jelly and squirty cream for afters Millionaires shortbread from page 8 of this section is in the oven as we speak! (for eating tomorrow) not much of a cook usually so pleased with myself

Cinnamon
Yum - just the sort of winter food I love. And most of it is stuff I have in the house all the time too. I will be cooking this very soon

Cinnamon
Another edit from me. I had a late lunch of this soup,so wasn't hungry at supper time, so I added a bit more stock, some more cabbage & another handful of pasta & the family had it for supper. It went down really well, & they all had seconds which was great as its a nice healthy meal too. AND theres anough left for my lunch today too
