stoice
Bought a tub of this from my nearest Tesco Extra as The only other place I could find it was Robert Dyas on-line and they were sold out. Egluntine kindly emailed the supplier at this was their response Ratty is availabe in Tesco extra stores, Stax trade centres, Home hardware stores and Robert Dyas stores. It is also available from the following link: http://www.thereallyusefulstore.co.uk The product is perfectly safe to use around your hen enclosure and all the active ingredients in the product are non harmfull and non toxic to animals and humans. Kind regards and happy repelling. I applied it at the weekend so it's early days yet as to how effective it is. It's a white powder that smells kinda like moth balls or similar to ukadex (Only not as offensive to me as ukadex is). Discovered more tunnels under my loose laid slabs this weekend so have sprinkled some in there aswell as along their usual route and in the compost bin. Have to re-apply twice a week for two weeks then about once a month or so. It cost me just under £6 for 900g from Tesco Extra (In the fly repellent section) Fingers crossed this works. http://www.rattyruns.com/product.html

Puffin
Me too, I had the pest man round today who has left bait boxes around our compost heap. If this ratty stuff seems to work then I shall invest in some for after this lot have been killed!
urbantiger
Thanks guys. I've found this a help and have got some to try. I havent got chickens, but had several Quail in a large aviary with finches etc, that suddenly got invaded by Rats, they caught and killed nearly 40 birds in less than a week. Only finding half eaten remains. I have been busy with the Ratman laying traps and bait boxes and filling in holes we found. The foundations around the edge were set into the ground above 2' deep mesh, I ended up digging out the floor and laying mesh and concrete. The product you are sharing info about looks really good, i have got some now and have used it in and around the empty aviary to make sure they cant or wont come back. Guest
HI if u have a bad infestation i would def act fast and get a bait box(the proper ones stop hedgehogs and wildlife getting in)ptherwise the rats will start knawing and they will attack your chickens..i lost ducks to them before & they were shut up at night. Go to a proper agricultural or equine merchant(I think some of the Diy stores do it too) may be worth getting some proper poison down ..the loose stuff i find the best. The bait boxes are not expensive i think u can get them in ie wickes Need to keep the bait box topped up...i have one permanently by the chicken run and it is along the edge(rats like going along an edge ie wall and straight lines apparently?? ) Good luck indie
