mycoplasma and Baytril

Recommended Posts

I took my 14 week old chicks to the vet who diagnosed mycoplasma. She prescribed Baytril and said that due to counterindications I could never sell the eggs or use them for human consumptions. Does anyone know anything about these contraindications or if it is safe to eat the eggs once they do come into lay? Do I have to cull the chicks and start again?

The advice is given because the exhaustive safety testing has not been done on laying hens, so your vet will be giving you the advice s/he is now required to do by law.

Many of us have given our hens Baytril and then gone on to eat the eggs. We are still here to tell the tale.

Have a look **here** for a bit of info.
