moomin
My girl Skye is moulting, started a few days ago. She's not a year old until 31st January, is she too young to moult as I read in my chicken book that they don't moult within their first year? Also she has really splatty, whitish poos, every time - not just the odd one. They were wormed about 6 weeks ago and in every other way she seems fine - eating and perky Any advice please guys? Egluntyne
The have mini moults before they are a year old. What is she eating? Too many treats or free ranging do you think? I'd keep her on pellets and water. The only extras I'd give her for a day or two would be bokashi bran and probiotic yoghurt or Avipro, to get some useful bacteria into her. Redwing
Mine are all mini moulting and look scruffy as heck you do your best for them and they repay you by looking like they have been in a wind tunnel! Splatty poos? is that a technical term?
moomin
Thanks guys, I don't think I'm giving them anything different although now they get a bit more greens due to them not freeranging much as they are in bed by the time I get home. I will try what you suggested Egluntine, thanks very much. Splatty poos? is that a technical term? Yeah you could say that Redwing! It very accurately describes the noise they make when they hit the ground after dropping from the great height of a Cochin's bum!!
