julia55
I took on a year old black lab about four months ago.He is absolutely lovely in everyway and has really settled in. I have however notice that when I come down in the mornings (he isn't allowed upstairs) he is soaking wet all over his back as if he's done excessive cleaning throughout the night. This doesn't happen in the day or in the evenings when I'm with him. He is also left three days a week on his own for 7 hours (apart from an hour "loo" break at lunchtimes) and when I get in from work he's never wet. Any ideas/suggestions as to why he cleans like this at night?? I really don't think it's separation stress.
Rhapsody
If he doesn't have a parasite problem, put a Buster Collar on him (from vet or Pets at Home) for a few nights to break the habit. R x
Raina
My Border Terrier X does the same! Its a comfort thing he does and he only does it at night. He has done it since the night we got him (June 24th 2006) He doesnt sleep downstairs though he sleeps in my room with me
