GEB
I didn't expect my girls to moult this year having only got them at the end of feb, i thought they were to young, or if anything would have a mini moult. However obviously "Ooops, word censored!"ody explained all this to Wonky my merrydale crested. She has been moulting in very dramatic fashion for the past three weeks now and is looking quite sorry for herself. I have noticed in this time that she seems to drink alot more water than previously, and definatly more than my other two girls who are not moulting. Is it normal to drink more during a moult or is this a sign that something else is going on? Has anyone else noticed this during a moult? Blackrocksrock
I got my girls in March at point of lay and one of them has just had a moult and yes I noticed she was drinking loads more - she is almost fully fledged again but not yet laying but looks great for a change - I did her for scaly leg mites with ivermectin when she was moulting as it had a long egg withdrawal and she has grown feathers on her chest now where they were bald since summer ( I suspected mites then).
