(but she has no eggs) Bless her she sits in the nest box all fluffed up if you go near her and tells you off! But she is also bein abit horrible to the other chickens aswell! Is this normal? It is normal for them to be very grumpy if anyone or anything goes near them You need to give her a strict talking too and tell her that December is the wrong time of year! But mine clearly consider me to be a bit dim, and wouldn't believe me; just looked at me as if to say, "yeah, right, that sounds REALLY likely.... I can't beleive someone told you that AND YOU BELIEVED THEM...stupid human...." It sounds really mean, but if they're persistently broody then they eat far far less than they should, etc, and particularly at this time of year it can harm their health if they keep it up for more than a very few days. A bit of being cruel to be kind, I'm afraid: but better to cool her off as a quick "cure" than have her getting herself into a mess over a couple of weeks. I followed advice that I received on this forum: basically I spent a weekend dunking the poor bird in a bucket of water. Sure enough - it did the trick and she started to lay a week later. She still gets vocal when i take them away bless her! I was wondering as at the moment i am haven to move her to the food so she eats (she isn`t happy with this aswell but shes happy when she is eating) if i left her would she go eat and drink? or will she just sit there and waste away?
