shan.gray
Hello all I have had a and two 'Merrydale Sweeties' since May. I have been very aware of foxes and so the girls don't run free in the garden after dusk. However I have alway felt they are safe in the day when I am here. We back onto the village cricket pitch that is used by people walking their dogs. Last Thurs I was in the house with my youngest son when I saw two black labradors in my garden attacking by two girls. They made a hole in my fence! I ran out and tryed to stop them while the dog walker was unaware and chatting at the other side of the pitch. Henrietta was killed and Eggweena was hurt on her throat and leg (clever girl got away from the dogs by getting into my house). Please be aware that dogs attack hens too
Janty
Sorry to hear about your girls. Welcome to the forum. I just wish it was in better circumstances. Jan
Ain't Nobody Here
How awful . I'm so sorry to hear that . I hope your surviving girl makes a full recovery. What a shame your first post is such a sad one but it is a good warning to people. I know there have been a few postings about dogs attacking people's chickens (usually not the family's dogs but not always ).
Egluntyne
Welcome to the forum. Very sorry to hear about the dog attack. I hope the dog walker was suitably contrite and has offered to compensate you.
