My Boyfriend has just done the deed.

 

We had 9 girlts that turned out to be 6 girls & 3 Cocks.

 

All was fine untill two weeks ago when they started to bicker & stoping the girls getting any food this is around 25 weeks old.

 

He has dispatched two, I knew I could'nt keep all 3 for ever but I feel really sad now & wish we had done it when we first found out, hope fully they will now all settle down & maybe even produce eggs.

 

 

Has anyone been through similar? can the stress of having the cocks bully withhold starting to lay?

I doubt it - it's probably just down to the short daylight hours at this time of year.

unavoidable, really, it's not as if you set out to get a mixture and later realised it wouldn't work out.

I would have thought that there were too many cockerels to hens there, and that you would have had problems with them fighting each other, not just bullying the girls.

 

Stress will have an effect on their laying, but so will the short winter days.
