xChicken04x
Hi guys, I'm thinking of treating my self to a nintendo wii. I had a look on the Internet, but literally all I can find is wii packages, not just the console. It's all things like £249 for a wii and 64 games . So I gave up on Ebay and went over to Littlewoods and Argos, but they're selling the wii with wii sports, which I don't want. Any ideas where I can get JUST the console (and remote) and how much should I be expected to pay for it? Thanks for any help.
kitbag
I can't really offer much help - I think the wii just comes with Wii Sports anyway! I know that's how we got ours! Hope that's helped a little.
furryelephant
Hello! All the Wii consoles come with Wii Sports as a freebie in the box, so you're not actually paying for the game (it's great fun by the way!). I think the console + remote + (free) Wii Sports is about £180. Game and HMV do decent bundles if you want some extra games and I think second hand prices aren't too far off new ones. Watch out for Ebay "bargains" as some are Far Eastern imports with illegal pirated software. To make these work some sort of update is done to the Wii software but this is reset when you insert offical game discs.. thus rendering your pirate games useless. Not too many bargains to be has with the Wii prices as they are still very popular so no sign of any price cuts yet... your best bet for adding value is the bundle if you want the games that come with it. Just to add also if you want an extra remote your best bet is to get a copy of Wii Play as that comes with a remote for only a few quid more than buying the remote on its own. Best of luck! Guest
As said above you can't get just the console as it does come with Wii sports. Bundles are no good unless they come with specific games you want. Amazon have this at £176 and if you did want a second controller they have Wii play for £29.99 at the moment. I'm astonished that the Wii fit is now "£99 though - I paid £49 for mine when I pre ordered it last December - by they time they actually came out they had already put the price up. Bassett
Just to say that we treated ourselves to a Wii yesterday. It's been great fun for all the family and the Wii Sports have been a hit with us all. It great that we all play on equal terms ages 5 - 43. We're going to try and get Wii Fit tomorrow and DD and I fancy the Pippa Funnel Horseriding game.
xChicken04x
Hi guys, so sorry for the lack of updates, I completely forgot I started this thread . Still not sure what to do, I'm not usually into gadgets or games, but this really seems quite fun. It is however, an awful lot of money, maybe not to some people, but it is to me . The cheapest console I can find is £176, plus the games I'm looking at the top end of £200. What do you guys think, should I treat my self? Do you think I should hold off for a while and see if there are any sales? Is it really worth the money?
bigmommasally
Do you have a friend you could borrow one from for a weekend? If you're not normally into games or gadgets you may find it would be a 5 minute wonder with you. My OH bought me one with the Wii fit for my last birthday and we all played with it everyday for about a month since then it's been out at weekends now and then or when friends are round. I do think its really good but usually can't be faffed with getting it out. And now we have chickens I have even less time to think about playing on it
Falkor
same here, when we got our Wii we played on it almost everyday for about a month ( we are 27yrs and 38 yrs,you think we would have better things to do! ) but now it only get used when the niece and nephew come over or if we roll in from the pub and think it would be a really good idea to start boxing!!!! Neighbors thought we are mad already so boxing at 1am and now chickens is no surprise to them!!

chooklady
Wii I mean we got a Wii last Christmas but this Christmas we have added guitar hero. We have all enjoyed it so much, great fun. That doesn't help you with your problem though. Have you tried John Lewis?
