Eglu Cube, auto door, walk in run for sale South West London

Today I became the adoped mum for Molly, a gorgeous looking Maran. Sadly she is alone as her two companions were killed by a fox yesterday

Now, she is alone in her Eglu, but when she gets up tomorrow its going to be into a different garden. She needs friends, for companionship and of course warmth at night. When would I be better to get the new ones? ASAP or wait a week or two? I dont want to put her through any more distress, but I dont want her to be alone and cold either.

 

What would you all suggest please?

ASAP in my view. It will be much easier to introduce new friends if they're all in a new garden together, and there's no benefit that I can see for Molly, for being on her own for a while. She'll need a feathery friend to snuggle up to in the Eglu on these cold nights. I'd get two as soon as you can.

I think the sooner the better - chickens are flock birds and can get depressed on their own. When Clara died I got my new girls 2 days later - we had about a week of bickering to establish the pecking order. My only advice is to get at least 2 (if not 3 ) new friends - there is some great information on here about making introductions.

Off to look at/purchase a couple more hens this afternoon

Asap definitely, then she won't do the "Oy, this is my house" routine.

 

If it is new to them all then the disorientation will give none of them the advantage.
