Cupcakes

Are the ones in the pic yours Savonista?

They do look yummy, I have no doubt that when the oven is on for lunch today that a batch of fairy cakes (I do dislike the word "cupcakes" :x , sorry Mark I know it's an American-ism!) will fall in there & be devoured before they are cold most of them too!!! The children - and DH!!!- love them with golden syrup & cream as a pudd vaguely reminiscent of DH's childhood. His ma used to make steamed treacle pudd (which I have never got organised early enough to do ready for lunch, hence the quick & easy "cheats" way  )

How do you measure the butter S? It says use 1 cup or 2 sticks, how much is 2 sticks in weight does anyone know?

Hi Sha. Yes, they are mine. Or they were. Not many left now! :) We like them a lot.

One stick of butter weighs 113.5 grams, so you'll need just under a standard UK package of butter.

For the baking bit, I used light-oil shortening. I believe it was either sunflower or safflower. I liked it better than the butter recipes as it was much lighter.

I hope you and your family enjoy them!

WOW! Your cakes look lovely Savonista! :)

I got my daughters this cup cake recipe book for christmas, a donation goes to BHWT with each copy sold. The author has her own chickens and the first chapter is about them.

I love the Grown Up Mocha Cupcakes. :D
