Guest
try http://www.laterooms.com for last minute bargains, we used it when we stayed in London and we ended up in 'The Darlington' near Hyde Park http://www.darlingtonhotel.co.uk/ which worked out the cheapest at the time, it was still £80 a night though for a dble room but it was comfy and the breakfasts were good
laurmurf
We're looking to go up to london on the coach during 1/2 term, and need to find cheapish accom for me, him, and 13 +10 yr old. Any good ideas please!! I come here for all my questions now!! 5 of us and our friends spent last Feb half term in London and stayed in Rotherhythe youth hostel - we've stayed there a few times before and love it (wildly keen on all YHA properties, actually). There are a few more central hostels too, one right near St Paul's is lovely and the one near St Pancras has just been done up. Friends of ours always stay in Baden Powell hostel in South Kensington, as they are in scouts they get a discount. All of these options are really quite cheap, compared to usual accommodation prices and as they're geared up for families and young ones, they have lots of other kids and things to do. Rotherhythe has a games room and had lots of other kids to play with too. Have a look at the YHA website for ideas - highly recommended! chelsea
what about a travelodge or premier inn? I dont mind travelodges actually, quite standard and at the moment they are doing some rooms from £9 per night.
P&P
We use travelodge quite a lot too - basic, but affordable and quite adequate. P&P
Ms Marple
Further to Lauramurf's suggestion - I stayed in the YHA in Kensington literally opposite the Natural Science Museum on a school trip a few years ago. Basic but very clean and really central. Look it up on the YHA website. it includes breakfast, so you would have more pennies for other stuff. A chickychickychick-ENN!!
Stay in the suburbs in B&Bs - zone four will be about £30pppn, and then you're 30-45 mins from the centre for day trips. A daily travelcard is about £6?
hillfamily
I was going to say the Premier Inn at County Hall, right by the London Eye as me, DS, DD and my mum have all stayed there in a family room for £50 a night on numerous visits over the years .......just looked it up and it's now £117 a night The YHAs in London are great - friends have stayed in them and reckon they are a good cheap basic accommodation
