chooklady
My poor daugther after spending all her saved up money on 2 guineas plus a lovely hutch appeared to very allergic to them, what a disaster. Another job for me cleaning them out, which I could do without really. Anyway to cut a long story short I decided to buy them some paper bedding the other day on the of chance that it might be the hay she was allergic to and hey presto it does seem to be that it's the hay. What a relief, today she has been able to fuss them and really enjoy them since getting them at the end of September, what a relief. She is so happy, she loves animals so much and is so caring and it was lovely to see her so happy. Trouble is no she wants more!!!

BooBoo
That's wonderful news for your daughter - and great news for you! They surely still need hay to eat though?
chooklady
Maybe I was a little hasty!!!! She has had a bit of a reaction to them today, she brought them indoors (living room) Perhaps she will be better being outside with them. The cage they have is one of those 2 storey ones, we have put some hay in a basket type thing that hangs on the outside of the cage but she doesn't have to touch that part of the cage really, so hopefully that will improve the situation. Alfred
the problem with animals is you always want more! i was allergic to cats and always got very sneezy and itchy when going to friends houses that had them etc. But I found with a small amount of daily exposure at work the allergy went after about 6 months and I was no longer sneezing! although i still get a bit snuffly if in a house full of cats. maybe your daughter can gradually get desensitised as well if she spends a little time each day with the pigs? although cleaning them out might be a problem for her... Chooks Aloud
I too have this problem. I can have the gps indoors and cuddle them all I want, but I cannot have any hay inside - it sets my asthma off. Over this cold spell I brought the gps indoors during the evening but during they day they are taken back outside to their outside run - where they can have as much hay as they want.
