Daphne the blue sussex photo

Recommended Posts

Well she's not what I was expecting! I had visions of something looking like a bluebelle - ie blue all over. How old is she, obviously a youngster? I think you have something which may be a buff coronation. This is non-standard and pretty rare, although I think it would be made from crossing a buff sussex (buff with black hackles/tail) with a coronation sussex (white with blue/lavendar hackles/tail). Anyway, she is delightful and blessed with the most perfect name! Thank you for putting her picture up so quickly, its been very informative!

EDITED to add - just read the other thread where you tell us the breeder said she is a buff coronation. I'm not sure whether to feel stupid for not reading the other thread first or relieved that my hunch was correct!!

The one on the left is lovely, she is quite a bit smaller isn't she? bless her

I thought the one on the right was meant to be the Blue then I re-read your original thread and discovered that the Blue has a slight blue tinge on some of the feathers and I get it now!

apologies - I should have said it was a continuation from my previous thread. The little one is a blue sussex which is a cross between a buff and a coronation. She is mostly buff with bluey/grey feathers around her collar and tail. She also has a slightly blue face. Her name is Daphne and she is a bantam, she is also very young, the light sussex is about 4 months old. They are both settlng in nicely and seem quite happy chatting with our two old girls through the wire!
