Does anyone elses girls guilt trip them?

Recommended Posts

Hi because of the monsoon in the garden I decided the past couple of days to leave the chooks in their run so they don't trash the garden again. They are now sulking and hiding inside their house refusing to come out making me feel guilty even though the rain has stopped!

I was just about to give in and let them do their worst when I started thinking I am being bullied by my chickens!

I think I am a bit too much of a softie as they also have started making a noise in the morning so I will go out and give them food. OH thinks it is funny as in the morning as soon as I hear a bock I am out in the garden in my pjs with breakfast in hand!

Is anyone else a slave to their chickens and should I toughen up.

ps if this is what having kids is like i am definately not cut out for offspring!

I've let my new girls out today, they have been cooped up (see what I did there  ) longer than they are used to. So, they are happily trashing the garden, whilst my others girls sulk. However, I refuse to be bullied into letting them out too, I need my new girls to settle a bit first, and besides, tomorrow the roles will be reversed.

Mine started getting noisy in the morning, when I got into the habit of making them a porridge each morning. If I was at all "late" they started making a right noise, and I would dutifully run down and bring them their porridge...

Decided I didn't like being harrassed like this, and was sure the neighbours didn't approve. So hardened my heart and gave them nothing for a few days, and they seem to have forgotten all about it and are quiet again...

... except now I'm having problems putting them away at night. They run out of their house as soon as they hear the back door open at about 6pm looking for food... and wally here has now started making porridge as a bed time snack...

Me thinks I am making rod for own back... but it's so lovely to see them in the evenings...
