If it's feasible, a walk in run would give your dog a chance to be in close proximity to the girls without actually being able to make contact. It might allow him to gradually get used to them over time...

Well I have had just the same experience today but I luckily got out their before anything could happen.

 

The bantams were out in the garden with me as I was cleaning them out and had told all the family not to let the dog out as the chickens were out so.. my dad being my dad let him out and told me he'd be fine! I watched him telling him NO and then he lunged at little jim and grabbed him by his tail (ouch) so I threw myself at the dog and grabbed him just in time

 

My dad said that it was my fault that I wasn't watching him!

 

I was shaking after! and poor old jim was in a bit of a state squawking! I then found Rosie in next doors garden she must of flew over when all the commotion started!

 

We have never trusted Harry with the chickens we always supervise them and tell him NO the moment he lunges
