Has anyone tried making their own roosting bars to replace ones in an eglu?

 

My hubby works with a carpenter who gets rid of LOADS of off cuts, I am assuming that if we copied the design, gave the wood a good sand and only used untreated softwood we would be okay.....wouldn't we?

 

Any one had any experience?

I made some last year, but I made them with wider bits of wood and had less bars. Unfortunately I can't seem to find the photos at the minute, but I will take some more tomorrow to see what I mean!

my OH made styraight copies easy. Also a single bar for nest box girls.
