Had a four hour power cut yesterday morning, so I'm hoping the eggs in the incubator are ok, I candled them last night and Ive got a feeling only a few are fertile, if they've survived the temperature dropping for a few hours.

Ruth, some hatcheries and large breeders actually have a cooling period each day.......not as long as 4 hours, but I've heard of hens being off the nest all day and plenty chicks surviving. This is why I don't worry when I take my egg tray out for candling.

Also remember at this time of year fertility is often reduced anyway.

Cheers Fee thats good to know, I covered the inky up to try to keep the heat in as long as possible but it still dropped.
