I have 2 ex batt gorgeous girls both of whom now have full feathers and look like little duvets. I would like to go on holiday for a week and have aranged for the family to come and feed them and let them out each day. I havent found anyone willing to empty the droppings tray so I wondered would cat litter keep everything smelling sweet without harming the girls.

Your poo trays will be fine for a week with just newspaper and aubiouse in them. When we go away, I put an extra thick layer of aubiouse in the trays and I also spread a layer of straw on top of the roosting bars.

I always put a layer of aubiose (or whatever bedding I can get hold of round here) in the poo trays and they'll be fine for a week.

 

Two of my ex-batts are now little duvets too and look like proper pretty hens the others are still getting there.

Thank you so much for the support folks where can I get aubiouse, I live near a pet shop would I be likely to find it there. I originally had 3 hens one of them was oven ready and very small the middle hen didnt settle and almost pecked the little one to death, we re-homed the agressor on a farm (where she settled in immediatel) to give the little one a chance to survive. She is fine now very nervous and quite small but getting there. I dont think I worried and fretted this much when I had small children if I knew then what I know now though I would have done this a long time ago it is so rewarding. thank you from Belinda and Gertrude
