Aggienator
I thought I'd update this after Elizas antics this morning She's obviously got it into her head she needs to lay over there and she was sounding quite distressed. I took the roof off of the nest box and Mrs Pants was in one of the boxes, and in another there was already an egg so I plonked Eliza down on top of that egg thinking it might inspire her. I had to hold her in place briefly because she wanted to get out but eventually she settled down. Poor girl is way down the pecking order and I think she must feel intimidated by some of the others using the nest boxes. Mrs Pants is a very mild mannered girl who would happily sit alongside any of the others so I was pleased it was her in there with her and not somebody like Maisy or Pancake. Within minutes Eliza appeared again outside and there was an egg waiting for me in the nest box That's the first she's ever laid in there. I hope tomorrow she remembers how frightening it was up the tree and how easy it was to pop one out in the nest box! HAs she carried on using the box? Or gone back to her habits? Griffin
Eliza has been a very good girl and has used the nest box every day ever since She obviously needed a little bit of guidance
Plum
Good little Eliza. Enjoyed reading this interesting thread. She stays in their area now then?
Griffin
No, her, Pancake, Primrose and Freya don't seem able to stay where they are supposed to be They all jump over the netting to the dogs side which in turn enables them to nosey at the chicks in the garage because during the day I leave the side door open to the garage so the chicks get fresh air and used to the outdoors temperature. They're like a group of old women grumbling at the young'uns They've got into trouble the past two days though because Freya figured out if she could jump over the netting to the dogs garden then she could also jump over the netting seperating her bit of the garden from the new grass seed I'd sowed at the top of the garden. It's about an inch long over there now but not strong enought to withstand chooky scratching so they are still forbidden! Freya told Pancake and now both of them keep jumping over there and my OH is going spare! He is now insisting on electrifying the netting so today I'll be buying the bits we need to do that. Their escaping days are soon to be over!
