kerrie
I've had 1 out of 3 of my chickens laying eggs every other day for a couple of weeks-but I haven't had any at all for the past 4 or 5 days. Is it normal for them to start laying rhen stop again? Is it to do with the cold weather?
Redwing
It sounds like they are just getting to grips with the whole egg laying thing so I guess it may take a while for them to settle in to the routine. If they are fine in every other respect I wouldn't worry
Snowy
It could also be a blip due to the weather - mine have all dropped off noticeably with the snow and cold, despite laying like good'uns a few weeks back
Mollystar
I have the same thing, 5 eggs then none then 1 then 2 then 4, just the time of year I suppose, fingers crossed
Millihelen
I too thought the egg laying rate had dropped off when the cold weather came. Mine went down from 4 to 3 a day - then one day I noticed a nice cosy "nest" of about 10 eggs tucked away under one of our conifers! Its not even peaceful - its right next to the bus stop, and its really difficult for me to get at the eggs - really low branches in the way! So, if your girls are free ranging at all, I suggest you have a bit of a look around if you can!
