helen5848
After much thought I've finally named my new chickens - Rita, Mavis and Blanche!!!!! They're all still doing well - although they seem to have turned their noses up at my porridge this morning - those of you who serve porridge do you mix it with water or milk? or do you just give it as oats? I got my first egg this morning too - couldn't believe it when I found it - although tempted to boil it straight away - I've decided to show it to friends and family first - almost like a trophy! Also my dad said that they may not lay any more eggs now for a few days until they are settled - I was quite surprised to find one hours after the hens arrived! Has anybody else had eggs laid within a day or two of getting their girls? did the laying continue or did it stop whilst they got settled? Anyway I have attached a piccy of my new coop to my user profile - unfortunately as I took the picture two of the hens ran inside - leaving only one in the piccy! Ain't Nobody Here
Congratulations . How lovely to get an egg that quickly . I think some people are that lucky but loads of us had to wait weeks and weeks for our first one . No reason why she shouldn't keep laying but sometimes it takes them a week or so to get into the proper swing of things. Good choice of names, btw .
