quickcluck
Hi BB Are they laying yet???? I think some say to handle them after they have been in bed for a while and are sleepy so they get used to it...... But they do get better after they've started laying too! Plum
Hi babybear, One of mine was a bit nervous and I found that picking her up in a confined area and holding her to me gently until she calmed down, then putting her down when she was really calm not flapping made her really tame. Its worth trying but if your chicken is agitated when you put her down just hold onto her gently on the ground until she is calm again before you let go then they associate you with calm not panic. But I have got hybrids and they are easier to tame, I don't know if it works with flighty birds.
SLK69
Have you tried hgging at bedtime every night? I used to take our nervous chicken into the house for a few treats just as she went to bed, could only catch her when she went to bed - she is better now but still not as tame as the hybrids. Chickaboo
Daphne has always been a very nervy chicken (in stark contrast to Phoebe, who thinks she is actually a human). She has got a lot better (we've had her 2+yrs now), but she will panic at the slightest little thing. They have never been treated differently, they just have different personalities like us, I think.
