I have a new egg storage thingy. It's shelves with holes for eggs to sit in, stuck on a plinth shaped like a big wooden egg for wall-mounting.

 

Given I have as many herbs and spices without storage as eggs, I had a brainweave this morning. This is like a brainwave, but wonkier.

 

My brainweave went thus: what if I got some of those Easter egg hunt empty plastic eggs, put little baggies of herbs in them (labelled of course) and put them, alphabetised, on the shelves in the egg plinth so they were easy to find?

 

Yet another cunning way of getting more chickenalia into the kitchen or just a bit bonkers?

Herbs go in the eggs. Names of herbs go on the back. Eggs go in the rack.

A friend gave me one of those wooden racks, but it didn't hold enough eggs (back then, when I was getting four a day ) and I gave it away.

We had a rack like that when I was young. I wonder if it's one of the many, many things that have been stuck in the attic at my parents house and forgotten about....
