Single hen

Just been out in the garden to let the chooks out and as they came out I reached out to stroke Matilda and expected her to run off like she normally does, when she crouched for me and let me pick her up!!. Oh she was so soft and cuddly too! She's been moulting for the last goodness knows how long, so we've been down on our eggs. Her comb is starting to redden up a bit more now too, so here's me hoping it won't be long before we can taste her lovely eggs again soon!

 

I'm so chuffed I was able to pick her up , she's been so grumpy hiding under the table all the time that I was worried that I'd never get a cuddle again!! We even had to use Rosie as demo chicken on hen courses instead! Just thought I'd share that with you I'm so chuffed! Good girl Matilda!

Well done Matilda! Can she tell our Ruby how to do it? Ruby last laid an egg at the beginning of November! She moulted and grew back - she looks gorgeous. Even her comb has gone red but no egg and no crouching

Matilda not laid yet but from looking at her and her behaviour now I would say surely within the next week. She's become soooo cuddly again! Rosie is the youngest, just gotta hope she don't moult now til next winter

One of our girls has just finished a moult and she also is ultra soft and fluffy at the moment.

 

I love giving them a lovely snuggle.
