Guest
I wonder if anyone who lives locally can tell me if I can get some Aubiose or something from Thornes? I expect to be in the area and it would be useful to pick some up whilst I am there...
louise1976
Hmm... i have no idea, i always get mine from a horsey place. Hopefully some one will be along soon who can help more than I!
BarbaraJ
Sorry no you can't get it at Thornes, mine comes from The Cat Survival Trust, The Centre, Codicote Road, Welwyn, Herts. AL6 9TU. sounds a bit obscure place but they sell Horse and pet food and bedding there.

Guest
Hi I dont remember seeing any at Thornes but I am going there tomorrow to see what chickens etc they have(one time they had lots but the last time it wasnt very many)??They stocked a few items ie feed and feeders wooden housing etc Def get from a Equine place. prob costs approx £7-8 a bale I have horses and the nicest bedding is Hemcore(it use to have citronella in it..to help repel flies but i have a feeling it changed a bit with EU rules etc) Aubiose is very similar and a lot of horse merchants now stock it..french company...Hemcore is from Herts) The hemcore bags from what i remember were a bit bigger & I think a much nicer bedding and smells stronger lemons than Aubiose. There are lots of equine stores around that area ie Sandon(Cecil Sales) Clarkes equestrian in Stevenage they sell all this bedding. I am sure you will find one on your route somewhere as its v horsey area. Anyhow Thornes is just Along the A507 outside Hitchin...I cant remember which little roundabout but I think I saw a signpost on the roundabout for it its just off A507..no website as I had a look Perhaps unless anyone knows i will pick up the address when i go....thats my trip out tomorrow indie

jomaxsmith
Thornes sell chopped straw as bedding. There is a farm just up the a507 towards Henlow that sells bales of Miscanthus which I'm currently trying and I'm finding it to be pretty good. Their ebay page is at http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&item=140292605074 Thornes are great - my girls are from there and I think they're the best shop in the world! Solopuff
I get a lot of my chickeny stuff including food and bedding from Titmus at Wheathampsted which isn't that far from Thornes. Their prices tend to be very good too. This is the link to their on line shop but gives address and opening times: http://www.gjwtitmuss.co.uk/About/about.asp
