henny penny
Does any one have experience of growing asparagus in pots? I have tried several times on the allotment but to no avail
stoice
I'm no Alan Titchmarsh I'm afraid but I remember watching 'Jamie at home' when he was planting asparagus. Wasn't in pots, was in a good sized raised bed. I remember his gardener saying to him that they'll need over two years to grow before you can harvest them. Maybe thats why they may not do well in pots? I found this and this that may be useful
Redwing
They need a good foot deep of soil, pots may not be ideal but a longer deep trough may be ok
Tara.F
Asparagus do need a good sized trench to grow in eventually. However, since you won't be getting a crop off them for a few years (three for a decent crop) some people plant them in pots and transplant into their trench in the autumn of year two so that the space can be used more productively with annuals untill the asparagus actually need it. sorry, that was a really long sentence and hard to read,
