Lesley
Ducks aren't really any noisier than hens - the duck makes more noise than the drakes but don't make a great deal of noise unless something startles them. You can get plastic kennels now which would work. Make sure it is the biggest you can afford. Use straw (not hay) in a thick layer in the bottom of it. It won't be as easy to clean as an Eglu but I don't think it would be too difficult.

Richard T
Have you tried googling to see what sort of duck houses are on the market to see if they can give you any ideas? Flyte So Fancy have some nice looking ones: http://www.flytesofancy.co.uk/chickenhouses/Duck_and_Goose_Houses.html They seem to have removable roofs which is a good idea. It would make cleaning easier.
Kristeen
The grey plastic coal bunkers look perfect with a sliding door at the front, lots of room and a large hinged lid which can be padlocked. Just a suggestion Kristeen

Don't forget the ventilation factor, as they will generate a large amount of body heat, think about some sort of holes or sliding upper vent door, Carl
Kristeen
http://www.thefiresideshop.co.uk/category-6430/Coal-Bunkers.html Just done a quick search on the internet, ebay also has some for sale. There is lots of different styles of coal bunkers, my one is twice the size of my eglu and they would have alot more head room and as it is plastic it should be quite easy to clean, but yes you would need to cut in holes for ventilation. Hope this helps Kristeen

Kristeen
yes the green plastic one is more what I was meaning, I thought they would be cheaper than that.
OverWyreGrower
We use a small wooden shed from B&Q for the ducks... we put a piece of cheap lino on the floor, and that is really easy to clean. The shed was about £100. We bought a pre-made drop down hatch door from eBay and my hubby fitted it to the shed, the door was about £15. We've had them in it for about 5/6 months and it's absolutely fine. One of the best things is that I don't have to crouch/kneel down to clean it out. pearcie
maybe my only alternative is wood

Kristeen
that looks fab, looks well built as well, well found. You might find as someone said before that lino on the floor might make it easier to clean. Kristeen
