I have just bought five planting bags from Ikea for growing salad potatoes and carrots in I know empty compost bags will do but these are so lovely!

I'm liking them! HOw big are they please? Will surplus rain drain through them okay? Might have to pop in tomorow and get some. I'm trying to plant in the front garden in pots and containers and leave the back garden for the girls to wreck!

They are quite big, they must be about 40-50cm across and the same high (they are still in the car so can't be sure!)

 

there is a ring of plastic that slots in the top to make the top ridged which is handy

 

They are not waterproof so I am guessing they will let the water drain ok but I will probably pierce a few holes in the bottom anyway

Ooooh - I like the look of them. I checked the online availability though and out of stock and not known when they will be in.

I got some of those a couple of weeks ago. My vege plot is at the top of the garden, but I thought I would use those for growing some salad leaves in just outside the back door.

We didn't have time to go to Ikea in the end. Spent too long in costco. We are planning to go Wednesday evening instead.

When I got them they were right at the end, by the tills, a total impulse buy , but they may have moved them to a more prominant position by now I suppose
