Emma Tarpey
Copper is about 3 years old and today i noticed yellow/orange poo sticking to her feathers around her bottom It looks quite serious and is in big clumps. Does anyone have any idea what this and how i can help her? Any answers appreciated Emma
chelsea
mmm, not sure what the orange/yellow poo could be a sign of - poos can vary so much...they can be harmless and mean nothing or it could be a sign of something that needs attention. Has she been wormed recently? Does she appear normal in herself? Eating? Drinking? Happy & active? If she hasnt been wormed I would recommend doing a course on all your hens, do a lice check around the vent area (pooey bums can be a sign of lice). Cleaning up the bum with some warm water with a dash of ecover and getting off the poo will make her feel much better also.
Emma Tarpey
Its still all there today however copper dosen't seem to be bothered by it. We would give her a bath but she isn't as tame as the other two chickens so if its still there in a few days then we'll give her a quick bath. We recently wormed her (about two weeks ago) so i don't think its that. thanks for the help
Blackrocksrock
Easiest way to catch her to wash her rear end is in the eglu once they go to bed. I had to wash one of the girls rears last week and another one to-day -too much porridge!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
