All chickens in bed together..now what?!

Recommended Posts

My 2 exbats have for some reason gone to bed in the cube and are now in there with the 3 bruisers who have terrorised them for weeks. I don't know whether they went in first and got cornered or not!

Do I leave them in there or shall I hoik them out and put them safe in their own eglu? Things have been far from amicable this far but I don't want to halt progress.... :?

Definitely leave them, but be around to possibly separate them again when they get up tomorrow if they start fighting. When we had new girls, we used to wait till they were all asleep in their separate houses, then tuck the new ones in with the old ones. It gets them used to one another's smell. Anyhow, yours have done it for you, which is great.

I'd go out and check on them later and then be up early in the morning. Our "newbies" decided to sleep in the coop last week, and we though GREAT. However, there is that much argy bargy every night amongst the six who sleep on the perch that they've decided not to bother again and are back to sleeping in the rabbit hutch

Fingers crossed that yours decide it's a permanent move :)

Well guys I have to confess I chickened out ( ) at about 11.30 last night because when I checked on them the babies were so squished into the nesting box by the others I figured they would not be able to get out this morning and I would lie awake all night worrying about a potential bloodbath..but your advice has encouraged me and tonight if they do go in again I shall leave them as it won't just be bad luck that got them there.

Let's see. Will let you know. Thanks again for the positive words :D
