Sitting on eggs?

Recommended Posts

Much excitement this morning as I let my 3 ladies out and 2 of them where in the nest box. Elvis has popped out a couple of eggs in the first week that we have had them but this is first time for KO (a week since thay came home with us). I let them out at 7am this morning and when I went to check on them after sorting the kids out they were both still there (about 10.15am). How long do they usually sit on the eggs? I don't want to boot them off if this is quite nomal. Advice please? Thanks

Usually about half an hour is the norm here - except for when they are broody. Cheyenne has been in the nest box for a while now. Sioux has had the odd day or so, but the call of food is too great and she forgets once I have taken her out. Yesterday 3 of them were at it, but I did clean out the cube and by the time I had finished Sioux and Apache, after complaining loudly, found better things to do (like eat my pretty double geranium) and Cheyenne went straight back into the nest box. I think you may have 2 broody birdies there.

No advice, but wondering if Elvis has left the building yet?

Lol, not only left it, but turned back to eat it., greedy chook :lol:

:lol::lol::lol:

Naughty WitchHazel - now you may be onto something there - my cube is lined with newspaper - maybe they are reading the headlines! :D
