Ana's flock
Thank you very much to Sue for bringing the girls all the way from Scotland - they've settled beautifully - they only arrived last night and this morning they're free ranging in the garden with the rest of the flock and sharing the treats. We've named them Chantal and Claudine (very French!) and they're really sweet. We've been cuddling little Claudine this morning and she was very calm and relaxed. Earlier on she laid a soft little egg (I had never seen one of those) - I'll be giving her some sort of calcium supplement although perhaps the soft egg was due to her long journey yesterday. They're having a great dust bath with the rest of the flock as I'm typing. It was great to meet Sue and her lovely family even if only for a short time - I hope they'll nip in to see us next time they're coming this way. Thanks again
SLK69
The chicken story, Chantal and Claudine have landed on their feet with the lovely Ana and will be living in a purple cube. I think the softy must be due to the stressful journey as I'm sure they haven't laid one before and had access to limestone for chickens and oyster grit in our garden - but who knows, they have been both a bit egg-tastic of late - what with spring showing her face. Ana and her family were beautiful warm people to meet and hopefully our families will keep in touch The two Araucan-ites also from Jill in Fife are healthy and happy in our garden back in Renfrewshire being looked after by grannie while are down here in sunny Hertfordshire. x x x
Jillus
I have been on the look out for news of my old girls and am thrilled that it has all gone so well. Thanks so much to the Foster Mum and the new adopted Mum too. I think the new names sound lovely and cannot thank you all enough.
