little chickadee Posted April 5, 2009 Share Posted April 5, 2009 Just had a phonecall from the allotment and there are 20 spears of Asparagus poking through It's 2 yrs since we've planted the bed, so we're allowed to eat them this year. Chook n Boo Mum Posted April 6, 2009 Share Posted April 6, 2009 DH cut our first spears this evening - not enough for a meal (we like to have just asparagus with hollandaise sauce or melted butter on it's own!), but will be in a day or two, can't wait. He asked after he'd cut them whether the chooks like asparagus - how do I know, I've never fed it to them....... Don't panic, we don't have spoilt, decadent chooks, he'd trimmed one of the monster spears back to the same length as the others.
